I can’t help but love our rough, tough, edgy, kind, sweet, generous, Gavin and Stacey synonymous town, with a passion.
And I would never lay my (leopardprint) hat anywhere else.
So what better way for a very well-trained journo, writer, and girl about town to talk about where we live, laugh, love…and occasionally cry, than through a blog.
I have always been one of the town’s most voracious supporters, and proudest residents.
And have constantly talked about the town when out and about – both in my birthplace, and when travelling Wales, and wider, for work, for rest, or for play.
You can take the Girl out of Barry, but you can’t take Barry out of the Girl and all that.
Mrs SVJ will be my reflections of this, and my thoughts on the many communities I move in.
Sue’s View will focus on my life in our beautiful Barry – the good, the bad, the ugly, and the hot topics in our town.
Out of Town will show that there is life beyond Barry – the Gigs I go to, the films I watch, the Theatre I enjoy, and all through the lens of a local Girl done good.
Queer Sphere will wax lyrical about life with our LGBT family – the places we go, the difference we make, and the issues we face.
Check out our Turf Tales to see some of the movers and shakers, living large, fighting for fairness, and putting our very own stomping ground on the map, and sometimes world stage.
My Campaign, and Community pieces will shine the editorial spotlight on those friends, fighters, and kick ass campaigners who have have the faith that we can really make that crucial difference in this world.
My Commercial stuff will show the bold Barry businesses excellently serving our lovely local community, often when fighting fierce competition, and facing tough trading times.
And my Guest Blogs will highlight the many other talented writers, journos and bloggers we have in our town, and around – watch this space.
Please enjoy my Barrybados blogs, and my tales when I’m out and about – all through the perspective of a queer and quirky local girl done good, of course.
I pinky promise to try to write with style, swagger, humour, honesty…and certainly sensitivity when required.
