Sue’s Views 2019 -2020

I can’t help but love our rough, tough, edgy, kind, sweet, generous, Gavin and Stacey synonymous town, with a passion.
And I would never lay my (leopard print) hat anywhere else.
So what better way for a very well-trained journo, writer, and girl about town to talk about where we, in the words of that crap cliche, live, laugh, love – and occasionally cry, than through a blog… or several

I have always been one of Barry’s most voracious supporters, and proudest residents . And I have constantly talked up the town when out and about – both in my birthplace, or when travelling Wales, and wider, for work, rest, or play.

You can take the Girl out of Barry, but you can’t take Barry out of the Girl and all that.

Mrs SVJ will be my reflections of a life lived pursuing my passions of activism, arts, and altrusim – and the cracking cracking communities I move in.

My Blogs include:

Sue’s Views: The reboot of my much-loved infamous B&D opinion column from back in the day. And focusing on the hot topics we are all talking about in beautiful Barry, and beyond – the good, the bad, the ugly.

Gig Girl Reviews: showing the world is wider than just our town – through the eyes of a local girl done good – the gigs, the films, the theatre, the exhibitions, and all things arty.

Queer News: waxing lyrical about the volunteer work I do in my LGBT life – the places I go, the difference I make, and the issues I face.

Turf Tales is mash up of news and views. This section of the site publicises some of the movers and shakers in Barry – those locals who are putting our very own stomping ground firmly on the map.

And includes Campaign and Community pieces that shine the editorial spotlight on those friends, fighters, and kick ass campaigners who have the faith that we can really make that crucial difference in this world.

Trade Talks: the sharing of the Shop Local ethos to promote our bold businesses – especially those excellently serving our lush local community.

Finally Guest Blogs highlights the many other talented writers, journos and bloggers we have in our town, and around – so please support this space too.

I also love sharing my skills to help individuals, charities, community groups, and businesses, to promote their cause, campaign, product or project.

Find out more about me, my blog, my business, and how to hit me up, here.

Please enjoy my Barrybados blogs, and my tales when I’m out and about.

I pinky promise to try to write with style, swagger, humour, honesty – and certainly sensitivity when required.

Come get me keyboard!

Speak soon.
