Cadstock Clarity| Q&A| Local News

Thanks for supporting us through the chaos of cancelling Cadstock for a couple of weeks whilst we wrestled with the furious weather forecast.

It was a tough, tight, time-restrained decision, to make – with much juggling going on behind the scenes.

It was the right call – made much easier by your strong support. Thank you.

We are now pleased to confirm that our free, for all, family-friendly, fully-inclusive Music Festival is on SATURDAY 19TH AND SUNDAY 20TH AUGUST 2023.

Please see below the recent timeline, the current situation, and clarity of some of your social media questions asked.

The event was postponed due to the severe adverse weather conditions which would have caused an unacceptable risk – torrential rain, musicians, electrics, and an Open Band Stand just don’t mix.

The official decision was not made until Friday afternoon – whilst all interested parties were being informed simultaneously.

We initially moved the date to September 3rd and 4th. This clashed with Barry Food and Drink Festival so we changed to a week later.

This was late in the Season, and a key partner may not have been around so, after much hard work and numerous telephone calls, we finally found the August date.

We realise Barryfornia may be the same weekend – this is regrettable but unavoidable.

The Festival set up remains exactly the same – children are welcome – with at least a sensible hat and lashings of sun cream if the heat is on please.

Dogs may be best left at home if we have a scorcher. We would advise that you consider the weather on the day and make your call.

Cadstockers, who bought gazebos, wellies, and other Festival gear can save them for the later date, and maybe even GlastonBarry this weekend (July 29th and 30th 2023) – please check their rules and regs first though.

I am also sure you’ll be able to rebook that Annual Leave as well.

Oh, and please remember Gazebos, Tents, and other large awnings MUST be set up around the sides of the Park. We all want to see the brilliant bands with a crystal clear view don’t we?

Sponsors. Supporters, Musicians, and Concessions – thanks for your patience and understanding.

Concessions who were left with fresh food – we sincerely hope you managed to shift the stock, or altruistically give the food way. Hope the old cancelled events insurance helped ease the pain too.

Musicians who had the date printed on their unofficial Tees, why not think of it as a Collectors item – and a sweet reminder of our unpredictable but wonderful Welsh weather.

We still have some official Merch available.

So, catch yourself a cracking brand new design, limited run, Cadstock Bucket Hat priced at just £8.

And why not pick up a cool colourful Tee to complement the perfect Festival goes gear too.

Designed by Maria Farmer, both will look smart at our super saved by the bell free Music Festival this Summer.

A colourful bargain at just £8 for the hats, and £15 for the Tees, why not even dig deep and see part of the cost as an ‘entry fee.’

Sound like a plan?

Both are available at: The Bapman Burger Van (in the car park of LBS Builders Merchants on Cardiff Road) between 9 and 1.30 Monday to Friday. Call 07708 685753 and reserve yours.

Please don’t use the previous email address – our man Andy is the solo Merch King!

Then wear with pride as you listen to our line-up of brilliant bands to rock us through the wild and wonderful weekender.

This will be subject to change due to the new dates so please keep checking the Cadstock Facebook Page for updates.

We have worked extremely hard to keep all the original bands,.

So I hope that clarifies it for all those who posted they were ‘confused.com’ – after sharing old and out of date screenshots rather than checking the latest news.

You can also privately and professionally contact the Team direct and we will respond as soon as we can.

We are open on messenger so please feel free to use this much more effective communications vehicle if you have any specific questions, complaints or queries please.

Please also get in touch if you’d like to suggest sensible future solutions to any issues that have arisen or to become a member of the Committee.

A quick shout out to those fast-acting local venues who worked with us, and helped us by offering a spot for the musicians still keen to work the wet weekend….indoors.

All credit to those savvy business bods who fired up that old Barry motto of ‘adapt and overcome.’

Thank you for taking some ownership as it is not within our remit, or responsibility, to make alternative arrangements on anyone else’s behalf.

This is standard events industry practice.

Just a gentle reminder too to those trolls, armchair critics, and keyboard warriors, that the FREE, not for profit Cadstock is solely organised by just five volunteers in their own time – with a hell of a lot of help from their friends.

We also have a mix of experience, lots of enthusiasm, and we do love organising Barry and beyond’s premier free Music weekender – so let’s move on now with some lessons learned.

Keep your Cadstock bucket hats cool, stockpile that Home Bargains sun burn saver, and keep that tasty Tee crisp – and we will see you August!

Speak soon.
