Welcome to Sue’s Flash – the local group of Mrs SVJ – Barry’s Boldest Blogger.
This is a group full of news, views, and reviews, solely about our terrific town. It is also a happy little haven to share information, advice, education…and possibly revelation.
Yeah, yeah, I know that there are many, many, great groups out there already, but a combination of quarantine reflection and rumination got me thinking that there’s a gaping gap in the market.
So shall we also start building up other super stuff around our community, campaigns, not for profits, and social enterprise.
So as the Lockdown lifts and we emerge bleary-eyed blinking into our brave new world, we have something else to see.
Please feel free to still share those pandemic posts but, fingers crossed, Covid 19 is for 2020 and not for life.
Sue’s Flash is set to be a marvellous mishmash of community news and views – random but real – showing our solidarity and cementing our cohesion.
More than happy for other Barry based pages and groups to share their stuff too. A big shout out to those who have been so generously hosting my bold blogs for many a month. Thank you.
Truth be told though, I have also been totally turned off, in more ways than one, by some of the shares I’ve seen on social media during these Corona Virus times.
So….let’s make this absolutely crystal clear that here, the usual rules of engagement always apply.
Please don’t put up any business as usual posts – save those for somewhere else. Happy to have special offers, freebies, giveaways and competitions though.
Please don’t post anything sexist, rascist, homophobic, or anything along those lines – that includes those cringe-worthy misogynist jokes fired frequently on other feeds.
Please don’t spread rumours, tell tales on individuals, or make claims you can’t substantiate. Just report it to the relevant authority and let them earn their coin by investigating.
Please don’t jump on the Troll trail and smear, shout, or just show off for the attention. Posting vile bile, says more about you than me Sunshine, so please book that therapy and take your toxic talk elsewhere.
I’m not going to lie to you though, I’m well up for a robust and real debate on absolutely anything – as long as it’s a fair fight.
Let me know what you think of any of the Sue’s Flashes I share. Be that Sue’s Views, Gig Girl Reviews, Queer News, my other my lyrical waxings, or just random stuff I share as I scroll.
Respect to those articulate and opinionated persons that I have been going hammer and tongs with lately over social distancing, non-medic glove wearing, stroppy security guards, and strange statistics.
Stands back in amazement at my strong take on these hot topics – many of which I’d never even thought about until a few weeks ago. Who knew.
Please take a seat though if you are in the kitchen but can’t stand the heat. We are all entitled to our opinion, and I want to live in a wild world where we don’t just engage with like-minded souls.
But remember #BeKind means treating others as you would wish to be treated – end of.
It doesn’t mean calling someone unkind if they don’t agree you, labelling someone a bully because they don’t have your world view, or bandying about the word ‘judgemental’ when you have been are correctly called out.
So please don’t do that will you fab Facebookers – it’s so not a good look – bit like my rather lairy Lockdown roots.
Phewwwww, that was a bit harsh, a bit heavy and quite exhausting wasn’t it, but I had to put my foot down with a firm hand so we all know where we stand.
Sue’s Flash, is also the Group of Mrs SVJ – Barry’s Boldest Blogger, which showcases all my writing work.
And also, with a little help from my friends, brings you the boldest and bestest of bloggers in our town and around.
I will share all the Barry-based blogging bits to Sue’s Flash.

The Mrs SVJ website, of course, features all Sue’s Views, community and campaign Turf Tales, and Barry Business stuff.
There is also Gig Girl Reviews – dedicated to the arts lovers, gig goers and theatre fans who devour the culture like a vulture.
And Queer Sphere News – for those living the LGBT life nationwide who want to read all my activism adventures.
My personal Facebook, and Instagram, profile pages will now be strictly for social shenanigans.
